Tras De Nada Bio

Tras De Nada was born as Leyes Criminales in the winter of 1995-96(I think). Its original members were Chris C.(drums), Alfonso A.(guitar), Allan G.(bass&vocals), and Marco Q.(vocals). Like many other bands, it started like a drunk destroyer punk rock band with political lyrics. Our first show was at our practice space, also called The Space, by 63rd and Pulaski. Always south side. It was very small but a few bands got to play there. It was also the time when the latino punk scene was being born in Chicago with bands like Youth Agaisnt Fascism, Crudos, Arma contra Arma, Leyes Criminales, and soon after Sin Orden. After a summer of garage, back yard, and basement shows we started to work on benefit shows and made it our priority to back up our political position. We did one of the last if not the last Punk Picnics in Little Village. I can't remember what year, but it was a blast. We played with Rat Bastard, Cripple Heroes and other local bands. That day Leyes Criminales died and Tras de Nada was born.
Like other bands we had our problems and diferences of ideas and that caused many members to come and go in the past four years. At the moment we are still hard core punk from Little Village, not Pilsen. We are more political than ever, going to protests, working hopefully soon with ?Hasta Cuando? newspaper again, and still anarcho-punk with many plans for this summer. Right now Tras de Nada is Alfonso A.(guitar-an original member from Leyes Criminales), Betocore(bass&vocals-an x-member from Youth Against Fascism), Southside crazy Rich(drums-former member of like 10 bands), and Marco Q.(vocals-the survivor from Leyes Criminales). Our goal is to promote social change in our communities by using art, music, D.I.Y newspapers, creativity. We give support to local groups that are organizing against the war, racism, sexism, homophobia, discrimination, police brutality, and many other struggles in our homes, neighborhoods, and other countries that have being victims of the U.S.A foreign killer policies and the neoliberal doctrine that are responsible for so much pain in the world. Also lets not forget our brothers and sisters that are in Prison, many of them innocent or victims of political persecution. Punk is a culture with ideas and dreams. It's a worldwide family. It can be a threat again, but we need to work very hard to keep it alive and strong with a political conviction, not fashion. Up the Punxs.

NI DIOS--NI AMO
ANARQUIA Y LIBERTAD
Marco.
